Research interests: Emerging and Vector-borne Diseases
Leonard Mboera is a Research Leader on Emerging and Vector-borne Disease Programme of the SACIDS Foundation for One Health. Between 1992 and 2017 he worked with the Tanzania National Institute for Medical Research as Chief Research Scientist. He has broad interest and experiences in research in mosquito-borne diseases, ecohealth and disease surveillance. Internationally, he has served in various capacities including an Adviser to International Health Regulatory Emergency Committee on Zika Virus (2016) and Member of the Steering Committee of the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (2001-2004). He has made enormous contributions to the strengthening of the integrated disease surveillance and response programmes in East Africa.
He is the leader of PANDORA Work Package 4 on One Health.
